How does
Local Law 126 Section 28-301.1.1 affect NYC buildings with parapets?
Section 28-301.1.1 of LL126 will require owners of buildings with parapets to have their parapets inspected yearly, and to retain a copy of the report for 6 years.
Inspections and reports must be conducted by an individual qualified to inspect parapets.
Inspectors will create a list of recommendations and report any unsafe conditions to the Department of Buildings.

A qualified professional conducts inspection for plumbness, evidence of excess deterioration, and appurtenances are in a stable condition.
The inspector will produce a report that is to be kept on file for 6 years.
Parapets are classified as:

Minimal deterioration
Retain a copy of the report for 6 years

Deteriorated conditions observed, but no immediate repairs required
Inspector provides a report with a list of recommendations and timeline for repairs
Owner should coordinate the repairs

Immediate danger to the public
Must notify Owner and DOB
Immediately remove unsafe condition(s) or safeguard area
Must correct unsafe condition in 90 days
